I love dicks

And dicks love you!!! :D

I'd say script unless you work with 12 fps, 100 smoothing and animate stickfigures with the brush.

Cuz then the art carries it to the heavens... agreed.

As Mindchamber said, I'd say a funny script doesn't need much of great art, or is sometimes even supported by lousy art. A serious film really needs great artwork, though.

I'd be curious if Stamper could do pull off a serious Circle Triangle animation... like one that haunted us, or made us feel a deep catharsis.

Script > Art

Anytime. Anyday. There are quite a few animations here on NG and on TV that have a good art style, but shitey scipt, makes it unbareable to watch.

Also, Script is also much better when followed by great voice acting.

The voice acting was the third ingredient I didn't even think to mention in terms of effective story telling. I think delivery should be it's own category next to script as it does add a whole new dimension to the words.

Why is his, yet to be her, voice so loooooooooooow?

cuz she a big lady....

If I would had to choose it would be script ,although art is important the idea that supports is what you mainly based it on. I would think that the "art part" of a project is the way you would protray your idea like you would intend it to be.

"If I would had to choose" "that supports is" sorry about that :P.

Dude, seriously hilarious stuff with the She-hulk MvC flash and nice to see...err...hear you and Hnilmik in Nerds Can Never love. Good to see you keeping busy with everything.

As for your question, I'd choose script. During my time here, I've seen many NG flashes that have simple art styles, but the extra work that they put in, be it voices, jokes, or aesthetic touches are always enhanced by a good or clever script. I look at it this way; you could have a beautifully drawn flash, that doesn't really animate smoothly (individual frames look awesome, but there's no flow or poor transition) and nothing happens, be it funny or awesome. That, at least to me, wouldn't be a great piece. I think art and script have to balance each other out, but script and execution are slightly more important in my eyes.
Well that was my long winded response. Heh. Hope it helped. :)

The feedback is both helpful and refreshing. There's been a fairly unanimous lean towards scripts (again, the hypothetical made people choose) ... but there's a lot to that. I don't see a whole lot of prominent script-writer credits.

I dunno, I feel with the writing forum not getting as much attention as the others, perhaps there's a lot of untapped resources...

Hmm, maybe what the writing forum needs is some sort of collab that spotlights it? Like say, "Narrate this awesome piece!" Or involve multiple parties like a Jam Session. Take a story, animate portions/ whole thing depending of length, and then have it voiced?

I'm not sure. I saw a suggestion like that ages back in the BBS. It is a shame that it's underrated though. :(

This news post and its' resulting comments have been pretty interesting. Thanks Rice Pirate!

I'm glad it's helpful to more than just me :D

Games: Art<Scripts
Movies: Art>Scripts

Games for men: nice ladies, short script, complicate game
Games for Women: Handsome guy, long script, relative easy but long game

I say you should fuck any normals, and hit them with a can of febreze.

Promise of boobs>script>art>voice acting

That seems to be how they stack up on Newgrounds, but if you have 2 or more of them it will blow up.

I think "She hulk" had Neither

lol, agreed

I can't give you any advice that hasn't already been given, but all I can say is that I beleive that the answer lies in asking yourself if you perfered the original Star Wars trilogy or the new one. In the end I beleive that execution is the most important.

p.s. I beleive that MasterAardvark's Pigpen worked so well because it allowed the viewer to inject their own story into it, and its execution was nearly flawless.

That I agree 100% pigpen was fucking amazing. I'm sure we all had our own interpretations.

So She-Hulk is actually He-Hulk?

script. dur.

Is the movie a stick movie? If so neither seems to matter
I like script>art but either can make or break a flash.
In the end something must be good and something must not be obnoxiously bad.

A poll I'd like to see is Sound/Voice-acting vs animation.

halarios but i wuld still tap that xD

uh no i got a boner
